Andy Barr

Andy started his Travel & Tourism career when he was 20, working as a waiter at Pontins. He enjoyed this position but decided to become a 'Redcoat' instead. He completed a full summer with the 'Reds', followed by two years as a 'Bluecoat'.

Andy was then offered a contract as tour escort on board a ship called La Palma, sailing out of the UK and this is where he got a taster of sea life. However, his sights were set on working overseas so Andy joined Thomson Holidays and worked on the Horizon programme in Crete. This was followed by the winter on the 'Young at Heart' programme in Portugal and then two years in the Balearic Islands of Majorca and Ibiza. He was then placed as a representative in Tenerife and instantly took a liking to the island, so much so that he stayed there for quite some time.

Andy then made a change and took a position at a resort office dealing with all the administrative side of operations. Andy returned to sea in 2004 and was soon promoted from Shore Excursion Coordinator to Shore Excursion Manager and spent his first year back at sea on the launch of a new vessel. He continued working in this position for seven years, sailing around the Mediterranean, Canaries, Egypt, Jordan, and Northern Europe. Andy joined another cruise operator in March 2012 and has continued working on board Cruise Ships ever since.

When at home he enjoys horse riding, going to the theatre and eating good fish and chips!
